Side Event on “Diverse Pathways of National Human Rights Action Plans” Held in Geneva

On 22 September, during the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, a side event entitled “Diverse Pathways of National Human Rights Action Plans” was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and organized by the Central South University Human Rights Center.

Experts, scholars and representatives of civil society organizations from different countries participated in the event and exchanged views on the development and implementation of national human rights action plans. Professor Mao Junxiang, Executive Director of the Central South University Human Rights Center, and experts from HRUG group joined the delegation attending the event.

Participants introduced China’s Fifth National Human Rights Action Plan (2026–2030) and discussed its key features and implementation in areas including digital rights and the protection of ethnic minority rights. International participants also shared comparative perspectives and experiences from different countries, including Turkey, Germany, Denmark and the United States.

The discussion highlighted the importance of developing national human rights action plans in accordance with national conditions, while promoting dialogue, mutual learning and exchanges of experience among different countries.

The event also provided an opportunity for the Central South University Human Rights Center and HRUG group to engage with international scholars and practitioners and to further strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of human rights.
